January 18, 2011:  Trig Ratios.  Defined and applied to find missing sides of triangles. 
HW: Blue trig WS (double-sided).  DUE 1/20/11

January 20, 2011:  Corrected Blue WS. 9.5 catch-up and 9.6:  Definition of trig ratios and solving missing sides of right triangles to get all pupils on the same page.  Added inverse trig functions to find missing angle measures. 
HW: 9.6: p. 570: 11-33, 39   DUE 1/24/11

January 24, 2011:  Pre-test of Quarter 3 Benchmark material.  Returned to classroom to work in groups solving one sheet of missing angles (using inverse trig functions) and one sheet of trig ratios.  Each person has two sheets due end of class or beginning of next class period.

January 26, 2011:  Angles of Elevation and Depression apply trig ratios to real-world settings. 
HW: Angles of elevation and depression WS.    DUE 1/27/11

January 28, 2011:  Discussed angles of elevation and depression worksheet as a review for right triangle quiz.  ALL LATE WORK due today.  Took QUIZ on solving right triangles using trig.

February 1, 2011:  Law of Sines and Law of Cosines.
HW: Yellow WS: #1-5 Law of Sines side, and #1-6 on Law of Cosines side.

February 3, 2011:  New Unit: Polygons!! Covered 6.1 today with guided notes, Geometer's Sketch Pad and PowerPoint Lecture. 
HW 6.1:  p. 325: 12-48, x3's    

Februray 7, 2011:  Sub today, so no starter and no collecting of 6.1.  Ms. Ekenstam and Ms. Heagren blitzed through Definition of Parallelograms (6.2) notes.  Absent students may use the guided notes (pick up from me) for 6.2 and the book (pretty straightforward stuff).
HW:  6.2: p. 12-36 all

February 9, 2011:  Corrected and turned in 6.1, 6.2 homework.  No Starter today (1B only), in interest of time.  Moved right into Squares, Rectangles, and Rhombus (6.4)  No guided notes, took notes on own paper. 
HW:  p. 351: 12-26 all, 33-38 all    DUE 2/11/11

February 11, 2011:  MIDTERMS!!  6.5 Lecture from SmartBoard--Trapezoids and Kites.  Took notes on own paper.
HW: p. 359: 3-24 all  DUE 2/15/11

February 15, 2011:  Starter was Math Tic Tac Toe. Corrected and turned in assignment 6.5 (22 pts possible).  Guided notes on special quadrilaterals and areas of polygons (6.6/6.7).   
HW:  6.6/6.7 Worksheet, both sides.  DUE  2/17/11 

February 17, 2011:  Correct and turn in Worksheet 6.6/6.7 (counts as two assignments).  Review Chapter 6.  ALL LATE WORK and NOTEBOOK DUE NEXT CLASS.
HW:  Review assignment: Yellow cross-'word' AND p. 382: 1-15.  DUE 2/23/11

February 23, 2011:  Correct and turn in Chapter 6 review assignment.  TEST CHAPTER 6. ALL CHAPTER 6 LATE/RE-DO WORK DUE TODAY, ALONG WITH CHAPTER 6 NOTES:
6.1 (Handout), 6.2 (Handout), 6.4 (own paper), 6.5 (own paper), 6.6/6.7 (Handout)
Students who have missed exam MUST have an excused absence for this date; otherwise there is no opportunity to take this exam.  Students who stand-up teacher after making arrangements to take exam forfeit opportunity to take exam and will be stuck with "M" grade for quarter. 

February 25, 2011:  Notes and lecture on Chapter 11, Section 1.  Two theorems, two corollaries on Interior and Exterior angles of polygons. 
HW 11.1:  p. 655: 5-25, 29-32.   DUE 3/1/11

March 1, 2011:  Correct, turn in HW 11.1  Notes and lecture on Chapter 11, Section 2.  Lots of vocabulary.  Learned area of regular polygons.  Stressful stuff!  Only 6 tought homework problems, make sure you are mastering them now so we can move on to fun stuff (geometric probablities) next time.
HW 11.2:  p. 669: 1-24 all.   DUE 3/3/11

March 3, 2011:
   More examples for HW 11.2.  Re-discovered special right triangle relationships (in the 30-6-90 and 45-45-90 triangles) to better aid in solving areas of regular polygons.  Introduced idea of Geometric Probability at end of class.  Re-assigned homework 11.2.  Absolutely due 3/7/11.

March 7, 2011:  Corrected and turned in HW 11.2.  In-class "Dart Board" Project.  Rubric was passed out in class.  Students that took project home to finish MUST bring back before school on Wednesday, or assessment will not accepted. 

March 9, 2011:  Review for Acuity exam (Jan-Feb edition).  "Baseball":  Notes will be required to turn in.  HW:  Jan-Feb geometry review (covering: trig, quadrilaterals, regular polygons.) 

March 11, 2011:  ACUITY TEST (computer lab).  Take Post Test C AND Pre Test D.

March 15, 2011:  New Unit:  Circles!   Covered section 10.1: Circles and their Tangents.  In-class notes, lots of vocabulary.  
HW:  Assign. 10.1: p. 599: 1-36 all  Due 3/17/11

March 17, 2011:
  Correct, turn in assignment 10.1.  Covering sections 10.2, 10.3: Central Angles and Inscribed Angles and Their Arcs.  Notes taken in class.  
HW:  10.2/10.3 WS.  10.2 side: Do ALL problems.  10.3 side:  #'s 1-14 assigned, we will cover #'s 15-21 in our starter next class.   DUE 3/21/11. 

March 21, 2011:
  Starter: inscribing quadrilaterals. (from WS 10.3)  Correct and turn in remainder of assignment.  Covering sections 10.4/10.5 of text: Other angle relationships and segments lengths in circles.

March 28, 2011: Starter.  Correct assignment 10.6 p. 638: 7-28.  Notes: 11.4/11.5: Circumference, Area of circles and arcs.  
HW:  p. 689: 15-23, and p. 695: 1-10.  DUE: 3/30-3/31

March 30 (Wednesday):  Correct 11.4/11.5.  Assembled notes. Circles Review packet (green). Answered lots of questions!  Due Monday.  Also due Monday: Circles Notes, any late work.

April 1 (Friday):  CIRCLES test!   (Turn in Notes, review). 

April 5 (Tuesday):  Continue on with new chapter: Solids.  12.1 lecture/notes/examples: definition of polyhedron, Euler's Formula, Cross-sections.  HW: Assignment 12.1 p. 723: 9-42 (34 possible).

April 7 (Thursday): 10 points extra credit just for bringing textbook to class!!  Correct 12.1.  Solid #1: Prisms.  Nets, surface area, volume.

April 11 (Monday): Correct Prisms packet.  Handed out rest-of-quarter 4 calendar along with your very own copy of the Geometry Reference Sheet!  Solid #2 today: Cylinders.  Cylinders are exactly like prisms, except their bases are circles.  Same rules apply.  Cylinder packet due 4/13/11.

April 13 (Wednesday): Correct Cylinder packet.  Moving onto Solid #3: Pyramids.

April 15 (Friday): Correct Pyramids; Last solid:  Assign Cones.  Due 4/26/11.  HAVE A WONDERFUL & SAFE SPRING BREAK!  REMEMBER TO BRING TEXTBOOKS BACK DAILY WITH YOU FOR REVIEW PURPOSES.  Thanks!
